Heat apple cider and juice in 3-4 quart pot with a tight-fitting lid. Add cinnamon sticks and zest of half an orange. Using a toothpick, pierce holes in the whole orange, insert the whole clove in each and add to the pot. Add star anise and bring to a slow boil.
Place pot in Wonderbag. Leave cider in Wonderbag for a minimum of 2 hours before serving to enhance flavor. It will retain heat for several hours. To serve, ladle cider into heat-proof mug or glass. Add rum to taste. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and orange slices and serve.
